Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem (In
the name of ALLAH, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful).
May the Peace and Blessings of
ALLAH be upon the Imaam of all Prophets, Imaam of the Ummah, Imaam of
Mujahideen, our Holy Prophet-Muhammad (saws), and on those who follow his
(saws) guidance till the Day of Judgement.
FROM:- ABU HAFS
TO :- MY
DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS
ASSALAMU ALAIKUM WA RAHMATULLAHI WA BARAKATAHU
All praise is to ALLAH for guiding me and helping me in this
effort. Alhamdulillah this is my 11th letter and I hope to continue
this, inshaALLAH. In this letter we will be discussing about another important
topic and that is Ilm-e-Ghaib (Knowledge of the unseen). InshaALLAH in this
letter we will know that who is Aalim-ul-Ghaib (Knower of the seen) and who is
not, in the light of Qur’an and Sunnah.
ILM-E-GHAIB: The knowledge of the
hidden/unseen is with ALLAH alone. No one knows about the hidden/unseen except
ALLAH. We all must believe in this and have complete faith that only ALLAH
knows the unseen.
ALLAH says:
“With HIM are the keys
to the unseen and none knows it except HIM.” (surah-6,
verse-59)
“Say: None in the
heavens or earth knows the unseen except ALLAH.” (surah-27,
verse-65)
In both the verses ALLAH says ‘NONE’ knows the unseen except
HIM(ALLAH), then we have to believe in it completely and if we feel that others
know the unseen then it is as if we have disbelieved in what ALLAH said.
‘None’ includes everyone, be it a Prophet, Angel, Jinn,
Saint, Wali or anyone.
It is clear with only these verses that only ALLAH knows the
unseen. But some people believe that Prophet Muhammad(saws) also knows the
unseen/hidden. And they say how did the Prophet(saws) tell about future events
which will be before the Day of Judgement? How did he(saws) tell about certain
Sahaba that they will enter Paradise ? And such
things. First of all, that which the Prophet(saws) has said was told by ALLAH
Himself and not everything was told to the Prophet(saws). Some things which
ALLAH wanted, HE told it to His Prophet. And the Prophet(saws) told it to the
Sahaba and they to their students and now we all know it. Then how is it a
HIDDEN KNOWLEDGE? It is become known. We all know about it or not?
Moreover ALLAH says:
“Nor does
he(Prophet[saws]) of (his own) desire. It is only a Revelation revealed.” (surah-53, verse-3,4)
Well ALLAH says that the Prophet(saws) does not speak of his
own, but it is a Revelation, which means that whatever he(saws) has told
regarding future events and some unseen things then it is ALLAH who made him
know it or else the Prophet(saws) himself has no power or knowledge to know the
hidden or unseen.
ALLAH says:
“Say (O Muhammad (saws)):
“I possess no power over benefit or hurt to myself except as ALLAH wills. If I
had the knowledge of the Ghaib(Unseen), I should have secured for myself an
abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and
a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe.” (surah-7, verse-188)
This verse is clear and it tells us point blank that Prophet
(saws) did not have the knowledge of Ghaib.
Rasoolullah (saws) had once sent 70 of his companions to
preach Islam to a certain tribe. The tribe turned hostile and killed all of
them only left one small Sahaba to convey this to Rasoolullah (saws). If
Rasoolullah (saws) had Ilm e Ghaib why did he send his Sahaba there. This means
that even while having the knowledge of Ghaib that the 70 Sahaba might be
killed, the Prophet(saws) sent them and he(saws) then took it easy or what?
Aisha
(raa) allegation. This is the allegation and slander on the character of the
Pure Mother of Believers, Aisha (raa). The hypocrites had accused her. And the Prophet
(saws) was so much tense, worried and upset that he(saws) did not know what was
the real story. He(saws) suffered for almost a month and sent Aisha(raa) to her
house. Then ALLAH revealed the purity of Aisha (raa), then only the
Prophet(saws) got relaxed. If the Prophet (saws) had the knowledge of Ghaib
then why was he(saws) worried and tense for one month?
Aasim
ibn Saabit (raa) “O ALLAH inform our Prophet about our state.” While being
martyred in 4 AH (Saheeh Bukhari, 4:281)
The
Sahabi prayed to ALLAH to inform the Prophet(saws) about their state, why did
he pray to ALLAH if the Prophet(saws) had the knowledge of Ghaib?
(Saheeh Bukhari 8 : 585 ) “you do not know what innovations they introduced after you.” This words will be said to the Prophet (saws) at the Lake-Fount
(Haud e Kauthar), because all the followers will come to drink from the
Lake-Fount but some people will be stopped and a barrier will be placed between
them and the Prophet(saws). When the Prophet (saws) will say that they are his
followers then this words will be said to him(saws). That these people had
introduced innovations and thus the barrier placed and they had turned
apostates. If the Prophet(saws) knew about Ghaib, the why did he(saws) not know
that the people had started innovations and why were the words said to
him(saws)?
And
there are a lot of such examples but if we give here it will become quite long.
As
for some of the stories of other Prophets or other such things then ALLAH has
said about it also.
ALLAH
says:
“Such is one of the stories of the unseen,
which we reveal by inspiration unto you: nor were you (present) with them when
they concerted their plans together .....” (surah-12, verse-102)
“This is part of the tidings of the unseen
which we reveal unto you by inspiration you were not with them when they cast
lots with arrows as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary:
Nor were you with them when they disputed their point.” (surah-3, verse-44)
“Such
are some of the stories of the unseen which we have revealed unto you before
this neither you nor your people knew them.” (surah-11, verse-49)
Now it has been clear that the Prophet (saws)
did not have Ilm-e-Ghaib. This is the pure Aqeedah of those who follow Qur’an
and Sunnah (the way Sahaba followed and not on their own way or the way of
their scholars).
When it is proved that the Prophet(saws) did
not have Ilm-e-Ghaib, then how can a Saint, Wali or any other person have it?
By the grace of ALLAH this letter has been
completed. I pray to ALLAH to save us from having wrong Aqeedah and follow the
way of Sahaba, aameen.
